ROLLING FOR RECOVERY
 The US Veterans Foundation
has partnered with several local gyms
to offer a program that helps veterans
combat PTSD through Martial Arts
(specifically Brazilian Jujitsu).

Rolling For Recovery

Many of our US veterans suffer from conditions like PTSD and depression. It has been shown that combat sports, and the martial arts in general, offer many benefits for those who suffer these conditions:

  • Self-care
Martial arts training can help veterans build relationships, to set boundaries, and de-stress.

  • Emotional expression
Martial arts can provide an outlet for veterans to express themselves within a positive environment.

  • Improved sense of well-being
Training in combat sports can provide and avenue for growth of self-esteem and self-worth.

  • Building relationships
Being a part of a team is something all veterans are familiar with and martial arts training requires trust and camaraderie between training partners and team members. Because of this commonality, martial arts training can help restore a veteran's association with a positive group of like-minded individuals. This provides an avenue for them to build positive, long-term relationships.
